Illustrative lakeside landscape, not an announced Northern Ireland venue

A possible founding destination

Retreats in Northern Ireland. A quieter way to get away.

Somewhere between the open air and a shared table, there should be space to put your phone down and be here instead.

A place to pause

Why Northern Ireland is on our list.

There is no shortage of places in Northern Ireland to take a breath: coastal paths, wooded landscapes and country roads that invite you to take the slower route. We are exploring it as a possible home for a future Switchoff Society retreat.

We have not chosen a property or set a date. This page shares the experience we hope to bring here, not a retreat currently available to book. Any imagery is atmospheric, not a photograph of a confirmed Switchoff Society venue.

The idea, not an itinerary

Designed around what matters.

01

A setting worth arriving for.

Comfortable surroundings, thoughtfully chosen for the feeling of being away from the noise. The final venue will be announced when confirmed.

02

A phone-free pause that still feels safe.

Your smartphone is put away for the stay and an SOS Phone lets people reach you for essential calls and texts.

03

Room to choose.

Conversation, shared food, time outdoors and the option to do very little. Exact activities and inclusions will be published alongside the dates, not promised in advance.

Our point of view

A retreat without the checklist.

Switchoff Society is not a spa itinerary or a programme to fix you. It is an invitation to be less available to the internet and more available to the people and place around you. You can come on your own and still belong at the table.

Founder James Blake knows what it is to make a life online and feel the need to put it down briefly. This project began with that feeling. Northern Ireland is one of the places he is considering for its first chapter.
