The SOS Phone

Phone-free retreats. Not out of reach.

Your smartphone can be put away without putting the people who matter on hold. That small difference makes it easier to truly switch off.

The question everyone asks

What if somebody needs me?

For many people, that question is the hardest part of going offline. A partner, a parent, a childminder or someone at home might need to call. A retreat should not ask you to ignore that reality.

At Switchoff Society, the planned exchange is simple: put away your smartphone and receive an SOS Phone with its own number. Share that number with whoever needs it. The people who matter can still reach you; the endless feed cannot.

What stays, what goes

A different kind of connection.

01

Still there when needed.

Calls, texts, maps and directions, and the ability to call a taxi are part of the planned SOS Phone experience.

02

Taking a break.

Social media, browsing, email and a camera in your pocket can wait until you get home.

03

What gets simpler.

The decision about whether to check your phone again. Exact device and on-site arrangements will be confirmed with each retreat.

Back to the moment

Life beyond the lock screen.

Long conversations over food. A walk without looking for a signal. The luxury of reading something all the way to the end. Switchoff Society is designed to make space for those ordinary things, without turning them into a checklist.

The optional programme and final setting will vary by retreat. Some guests will want to join everything; others will want room to be still. Both belong here.

Good to know

Questions worth asking.

Clear answers. No fine print or invented dates.

Will family be able to contact me?

Yes. The planned SOS Phone has a dedicated number for calls and texts that you can share with people who may need you.

Is this a total technology ban?

No. It is a break from the parts of your smartphone that keep you constantly online, while preserving essential contact.

Do you have dates or a fixed phone model yet?

Not yet. Venues, dates and final device arrangements will be shared before any booking opens.
